David Harding

David Harding sang Buttons and Bows,
after Dinah Shore.

‘[I was] a film fanatic in the
50s. I went to the “pictures”
about six times a week [laughs].
It was the theme song from the
film The Paleface with Jayne
Russell and Bob Hope. I loved
Jayne Russell and that’s why I
chose it. [...] I’ve sung this song
occasionally since then, but
always with the words in the
wrong order. [...] I learned it
from the radio with the great
Dinah Shore singing it [...] It’s
a music hall kind of song [...] I
sing it at the end of parties, a bit
drunk and when all the other songs
have dried up [laughs]. I go into
Buttons and Bows. Some songs
you can just about sing, other
songs you can’t sing. And that’s
a song I can just about sing.'
